Kuria East Constituency was created in 2013 when the larger Kuria District was sub-divided into Kuria West and Kuria East constituencies. It is situated in the southern part of Migori county, borders Transmara to the North-East and the Republic of Tanzania to the South. The Constituency covers an area of 287.5 km2.
The Constituency has a population density of 522 persons per square Kilometre. The population is expected to increase to 621 persons per square km by 2019 and 700 by 2022. One of the districts of Kuria East Constituency, Ntimaru has more agricultural potential, as well as the highest population density of 607 persons per square km, while Kegonga has a density of 446 persons per square Km. The Constituency has three(3) main trading centres: Kegonga, Masangora and Ntimaru.
